Redundancy and Career Development
Greater Merseyside Connexions Partnership (Enterprise) has extensive experience of dealing with adults either facing or following redundancy. All our advisers are professionally qualified in careers guidance, regularly undertake training to up date knowledge and skills and are actively involved in continuous professional development of the service.
Redundancy: Fear or Focus
This programme aims to address some of the fears surrounding redundancy and enabling individuals to move forward through a planned process. Typically this is delivered to groups of 12 or 15 employees on employer’s premises and will include the following:
- The successful CV presenting yourself on paper
- Writing letters and completing application forms
- Job Search – the “hidden” job market and effective networking
- Identification of skills and using transferable skills
- Interview Techniques
- Question and Answer Session
A follow up session is also provided to enable participants to have a confidential one to one discussion regarding their options. Telephone and email follow up can be arranged for further support if required.
In addition, every participant will receive a comprehensive pack covering the following topics:
- CV example and Prompt Sheet
- List of useful websites
- List of Employment Agencies
- Example of covering letter
- Typical interview questions and how to deal with interviews
- Career Change for Adults: working it out
- List of appropriate college courses
- Job hints for the mature person
- Qualities that employers need
- Self Employment and Working from home.
