Connect Uz in Wirral
Connect-UZ is a group of young people from Wirral who meet regularly with Connexions. Over the last few months we have been involved in a range of activities and events; and we have had the opportunity to contribute our views on how the Connexions Service is delivered in Wirral.
These are just some of the things we have done this year:
Contributed to the redesign of the Birkenhead Connexions Centre.
Started designing our Connect-Uz area on the Connexions website.
Designed some marketing materials including USBs and business cards.
5 of our members attended the Connexions 'Tendering Event' in Liverpool to discuss the future of Connexions.
We've had various guest speakers including someone from local radio.
We delivered a workshop to Connexions PAs to update them on what Connect-Uz has been up to, reminding them of the importance of youth involvement and giving young people a voice.
We were also involved in feeding back on proposed funding for 'Positive Activities for Young People' on the Wirral, and our comments were fed back to the multi-agency commissioning meeting.
"As a result of being involved in Connect UZ, I feel I have become more confident, more outgoing and I have a more informed opinion on what young people want."
