Committing an Offence
If you are between 10 and 17 years and have been found guilty of committing an offence then you can expect to be dealt with by the Law.
Depending on the seriousness of your offence you may be given:-
- A Reprimand or Final Warning, given by a Senior Police Officer. This is called a Pre-Court Order.
- If you go to court then you could be given a Custodial Sentence. You would then be sent to a Young Offenders Institution.
- If you go to court then you could be given a Fine and/or a Non Custodial Sentence called an Order.
There are many different Orders which mainly include :-
- Referral Order
- Supervision Order
- Action Plan Order
- Reparation Order.
Your Order will be administered by the Youth Offending Service in your area. The Youth Offending Service is a team of professionals from different backgrounds.
They will work with you to change your life style and find new ways of dealing with situations so that you do not offend again.
Youth Justice Board
