Business Excellence Award Winners
Earlier this year, Greater Merseyside Connexions was visited by Assessors for the North of England Business Excellence Award. They spent time looking over their quality assurance and performance management systems, checking how they operate against the EFQM Business Excellence Model (European Framework for Quality Management).
At a prestigious ceremony at the Queens Hotel Leeds last week, Greater Merseyside Connexions beat off strong competition from other public sector organisations to win the North of England Business Excellence Award 2008.
Collecting the Award on behalf of Greater Merseyside Connexions, Dave Howard (Connexions Operations Director) and Jackie James (Connexions Area Manager - Sefton) were congratulated for the level of passion Greater Connexions staff demonstrated towards their work with young people. The Assessor Team noted “the organisation has adopted a strategic approach to delivering their services based around providing the right support at the right time in the right place. In addition the organisation has developed a culture of continuous improvement by using rigorous self assessment utilizing the EFQM model.”
Rod Hill was delighted to bring the award back to Merseyside and commented: “This award signifies a tremendous achievement for all of the Connexions staff who have continued to achieve outstanding results because of their commitment and enthusiasm for their work. This passion clearly impressed the Assessors who were astounded not only with the exceptional professionalism of GMCP staff, but also with the focus on keeping young people at the heart of the business. “
