Seen and Heard Awards 2007

The 2007 Seen and Heard awards are open for entries from young people, youth-related organisations, schools and adults.

The Seen and Heard Awards are a key element of BT's Better World campaign, which aims to grow young people's communication skills and help young people campaign to create real social change.

One of the ways we help young people do this is by identifying and recognising those who have already made their voices heard and effected real change to inspire others. The annual BT Seen and Heard awaBT Seen and Heard Award captionrds, in partnership with the UK Youth Parliament, recognise inspiring examples of young people making their voices heard on issues that matter to them.

Previous winners include GMCP for their work with the Xchange Group, a group of young people who decided to tackle litter in their community, a young girl who wrote a self-help book to help others who's parents had divorced, and staff from a school in Ipswich who involved students in the appointment of a new headteacher.

If you have a story to tell and have used your voice to achieve something positive on your own or as part of a group we would love to hear from you.

Entries can be inspirational stories of young people who have achieved positive change through getting themselves heard as well as adults and organisations who have effectively listened to young people and acted upon what they have heard to provide valuable help, services and facilities.

You may have set up an action group to implement change, lobbied your council or made a DVD to raise awareness about an important issue in your area. Or if you know of a young person or group who have achieved positive change through getting themselves heard, please encourage them to apply.

The aim of the awards is to demonstrate the positive role young people can play in their communities as well as inspiring others to make themselves heard and to make a difference.
