A planned regeneration of the area of Birkenhead Docks has been announced by Peel Holdings, owners of The Mersey Docks and Harbour Company and Liverpool’s John Lennon Airport.
The £4.5 billion project aims to create a waterfront to rival Sydney, New York or Shanghai. The redevelopment will include housing, but will also include offices, shopping, restaurants etc. providing an estimated 27,000 jobs.
- The area adjacent to Bidston Moss will become a Retail and Leisure area.
- The East Float and Victoria Dock will become a mixed use area, offices, shops, restaurants and housing.
- The West Float and Twelve Quays areas will be retained as a Port, but improved. The project is huge and will take an anticipated 30 years to complete.
